Our Collections

A wide range of unique artefacts have been collected and donated to the Museum. Most of the objects relate to the region and people of KwaZulu-Natal and more specifically the Ethekwini Municipality and the city of Durban.

Exhibitions

exhibitionsThe seven site museums are uniquely themed and reflect the history of the region. The most recent exhibition which opened at Kwa Muhle Museum in December is the exhibition "Why I did it" which presents the story of Andrew Zondo and his role in the armed struggle.

Durban’s rich heritage is presented at many unique sites located withinthe city. Some of these sites and collections are managed by private institutions while others are administered by various government departments and educational institutions.

The Ethekwini Municipality is responsible for the seven Local History Museums which are showcased on this website.
